5 reasons why this step to your portrait session is so important

So, you’ve had your portrait session, now what? One of the things that I love most about working with seniors and families is when we meet after our session to go over the final images. It is so fun to see first reactions: to see a clients’ face light up as the images come across the screen, hear the laughter as a moment is recalled, or the tears as a parent views their child’s portraits…there’s nothing better than getting to witness that emotion! Aside from that, the importance of documenting this moment in time for seniors and families is not lost on me, and I love helping clients for what I would say is one of the most important steps of the process: choosing images and preserving them in heirloom artwork to be enjoyed and passed down over the years. I have found that this critical step in the process is helpful for several reasons:

  1. It can be overwhelming to look at a gallery of images and narrow them down.

Say it with me: DECISION PARALYSIS! I am guilty of this, too! That’s why I’m with you from start to finish as we talk through what images make your heart sing, combined with what images are strong compositionally or would work well with certain products.

2. It can be overwhelming to order on your own.

There are so many places you can order portraits from. How do you know which will print true to color? Which products will last? How should you crop an image for a certain size? What kind of paper should you print on? There’s so many other things to worry about: whether it’s graduation planning for seniors or the never ending to-do list this week for a busy parent. Let me take this part off your plate and take care of it for you - after all, I’m a professional who does this for a living!

3. I can ensure that your images will be enjoyed for years to come.

I once heard from someone that you should never order pictures at a store where you can also buy toothpaste. 😂 It’s funny, but it’s true. Your images are art that will only gain in value over time. This is why I take care of ordering every piece of your collection for you. I’ve vetted each and every vendor and I make sure that the final products you receive come from a professional lab and will be beautiful, accurate and long lasting.

4. Your final art products should match the time & effort that goes into the session.

We’ll spend a considerable amount of time planning your session, from wardrobe and color palettes, styling tips, to the actual time spent shooting, and then the editing & fine tuning afterwards. You deserve art work that matches that effort and attention.

5. I can make sure that your images don’t become just “digital dust.”

I understand the importance of having the digital images - you want to share them online and have a digital record of your portraits stored somewhere, right? But if that’s all they become, you aren’t truly enjoying your portraits, and there’s nothing really to pass down. A printed portrait is so much easier to pass down than an outdated computer, hard drive or phone 20 years down the road. Who knows what technology we’ll even be using 20 years from now? And, I don’t know about you, but if something were to unexpectedly happen to me right now - my kids don’t have my passwords to access photos on my computer or phone. But they DO have books, framed prints, and wall art all over the home that they can look at and enjoy daily.

Does this sound like the perfect fit for you? I’d love to work with you to create portraits and artwork you’ll cherish.
